Terms of Use
Last updated: October 27, 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and StitchLab ("we", "us") for using StitchLab at gostitchlab.com and the StitchLab USB firmware. By creating an account or using them, you agree to these terms. Please read them; they're written to be short and plain.
1. StitchLab is in testing
StitchLab is new and still being built. Features may change, move or stop working, and there may be bugs. Always check a design on screen, and sew a test on scrap fabric, before sewing it on something that matters.
2. Your account
- Give accurate information, keep your password to yourself, and tell us if you think someone else is using your account.
- One account per person. You must be at least 13 years old, and if you're under 18, you need a parent's or guardian's permission (they agree to these terms for you).
- You're responsible for what happens under your account.
3. Your designs are yours
You keep all rights to the artwork, pictures, text and files you use in StitchLab, and to the designs you make. You let us process them only so StitchLab can do its job for you (turning them into stitches and previews). We don't claim them, share them or use them for anything else.
StitchLab saves your projects (.slp) and the fonts you make (.slf) as locked files that
open only in StitchLab. Locking them doesn't change who owns what's inside: your work is still yours, and you can
always download your designs as machine files for your embroidery machine.
3a. StitchLab Designs
On StitchLab Designs (gostitchlab.com/designs) you can share designs, review them, post photos of your makes, like them and keep collections. When you share something:
- Share only designs, photos and words you made yourself or have the right to share. Designs of licensed characters, logos and brands, and copies of other people's or companies' designs, may be taken down.
- It stays yours. You give us permission to store it, show it and offer it for download (designs under the license you pick) for as long as you keep it on StitchLab Designs.
- Be kind. No harassment, hate, adult content, spam, advertising or other people's personal information. The community guidelines say more, and are part of these terms. Private messages follow them too: you can turn messages off and block anyone, and a reported message's words are sent to us.
- We may remove anything that breaks these terms or the law, and close the accounts of people who keep doing so. Use Report on a design, post or profile to tell us about a problem. To report a copyright problem, email [email protected] with the design's address and why it's yours.
- Designs are shared as they are: sew a test before sewing on something that matters.
4. Use StitchLab fairly
- Only use artwork, pictures, fonts and logos you have the right to use. Many fonts and designs have licenses that limit how they may be used for embroidery or for sale; following them is your responsibility.
- Don't use StitchLab to break the law, to infringe anyone's rights, or to harm StitchLab or other people (for example by overloading or attacking our servers, or trying to get into other people's accounts).
- Don't copy, resell or rebrand StitchLab itself.
- Don't reverse-engineer, decompile or take apart StitchLab, its stitch engine or its file formats, and don't try to unlock or get around the locks on StitchLab files, or help anyone else do so, except where the law gives you a right to that no agreement can take away.
5. StitchLab USB firmware
The StitchLab USB firmware is free to install on your own board and use with StitchLab. It stays our property: please don't redistribute it, sell it, modify it or reverse-engineer it. Installing it changes your board's software; you can install other software on your board again at any time. Use StitchLab USB with your embroidery machine at your own risk, and follow your machine maker's instructions for its USB port.
6. Paid features
StitchLab is free while it's in testing. If we add paid plans or features, we'll show the price and terms clearly before you buy anything, and nothing you've been using free will be taken away without notice.
7. No guarantees
StitchLab and StitchLab USB are provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, as far as the law allows. We don't promise they'll always be available, error-free, or right for your machine, fabric or project. Results on fabric depend on your machine, threads, stabilizer and settings.
8. Limits on our responsibility
As far as the law allows, we aren't responsible for indirect losses, lost profits, lost data, or damage to fabric, garments, machines or other equipment from using StitchLab or StitchLab USB. Where we are responsible, our total responsibility is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim (zero while StitchLab is free).
9. Ending your account
You can stop using StitchLab and delete your account at any time (see our Privacy Policy). We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms, and we'll tell you why where we can.
10. Changes to these terms
If we change these terms, we'll update the date at the top, and for important changes we'll tell you before they take effect. Continuing to use StitchLab after that means you accept the new terms.
11. The law that applies
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules.
